"For me, I love to try different things and I love to share all of them. But I am also a very contradicted person, I can be enthusiastic and frustrated at the same time, there may be a drama theater in my brain. Well, most of the time I just enjoy life. And life is just too short, the difficulties can’t be the obstacles, on the contrary they are all cherish you can get from life.

My work is a research of people and the things which these people relate to themselves, what they shall stand in this world, to work, to communicate, to live, to dream. I try to represent them to extract the meanings from the everyday life and simplify it making itself to tell you all their stories."

'Everything has a start'

Benjamin Sea/Xiaoming Xia is op zoek naar verandering. Als grafisch vormgever in hart en nieren wilde hij deze MAAS Artist Residence periode benutten om te zien welke mogelijkheden er zijn om tot grafische vormgeving te komen. Tot op dan werkte hij enkel 'vanuit de computer'. Tijdens zijn Final Presentation geeft Ben een inkijkje in manieren van werken om tot beelden te komen, waarbij een grafisch eindproduct wel in gedachten, maar - nog - niet verwezenlijkt hoefde te worden.

“I think I might hold the telescope in the wrong direction before and have been used to it. Everything just seemed so far away. But I think I must have done something really really right till now. I can see clearly, I can feel genuinely, I can touch freely, I can smell diversely, I can sense independently...

Everything has a start, I just reverse my telescope... I hope you can see what I can see.”
